In 1956, Andy Garcia purchased $15 in materials and began producing barbacoa in his garage. He sold the barbacoa from his truck for $30 in his first week of business and is now chairman of Garcia Foods, Inc., a major producer of Mexican food products that extends beyond barbacoa to include chorizo and tamales.
Kenny Garcia, one of six children, grew up in the business and now serves as President. Kenny, a graduate of the School of Business at the Our Lady of The Lake, San Antonio, follows the innovative tradition of his father by expanding the product line and extending distribution nationally and internationally.
